245 days to go for US troops in Afghanistan, and the end of another month in that country leading up to the 31 December 2014 withdrawal of all US troops.

The month ends on a sad note as retrograde operations go on, with US troops busily closing down bases and packing equipment, two US Army soldiers were killed by hostile fire. God bless our troops still in Afghanistan, a still hostile place. May God comfort the families of the fallen and heal those injured. RIP soldiers.

249 days to go for US troops in Afghanistan as they complete retrograde operations, closing bases and packing equipment, while bad news comes from the British with the crash of their helicopter and the death of five service members.

260 days to go or thereabouts for US troops in Afghanistan.

Another tax day finds US troops still in Afghanistan, but if it’s any comfort, it is their last tax day there as all US troops are set to withdrawal by 31 December 2014. God bless American troops still in Afghanistan and may they complete retrograde operations, closing bases and packing equipment and return home before 31 December 2014 if they have it all packed up.

In the meantime, it seems, fallout from the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan continue, with various books and movies coming out. I had to question one report of Brad Pitt playing Gen. Stan McChrystal in a movie? Is this a joke or a Duffel Blog story? If he was a winning general, one who won the war in Afghanistan that might be one thing, but pursuing a failed COIN (counter-insurgency, nation building) theory which did not lead to victory, not sure I want to see that movie.

344 days to go for US troops in Afghanistan. One more ISAF service member dies in that country, as stated in  the story at link #1 the nationality of this soldier KIA is not released yet. Pray for American troops as they complete retrograde operations closing bases and packing equipment, as shown in this story it is a still dangerous war zone. Links from around the GWOT:

My count had it at approximately 363 days left for US troops in Afghanistan. The withdrawal date is 31 December 2014. God bless American troops as they complete retrograde operations while still in a danger zone earning combat pay. American troops are still dying in Afghanistan, and others being injured. Pray for their safe return, and that they can complete the retrograde operations, closing US bases and packing up equipment to return to US bases long before the 31 Dec. 2014 deadline.

The year winds down this month, and with 2014, comes the end of America’s long and dangerous “dance” with ISAF. US troops are now in massive retrograde operations to pack up equipment and close bases by 31 December 2014. It is my belief and hope (and prayer) that US troops do not stay one day longer in Afghanistan, and US taxpayers don’t spend another penny funding the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan as it is officially called.
