238 days to go for US troops in Afghanistan, and I believe, 238 days left for this blog. Well, basically I mean. I will try and post updates as appropriate, but with all US troops coming home, perhaps not a daily update. Of course, as I have begun to realize in the last few weeks, when 31 December 2014 comes and goes, all US troops will be out of Afghanistan, but “Afghanistan may not be out of them.” By that I mean, our troops who served there are at times struggling with mental and physical wounds which will be ongoing past the date all US troops are gone from that country. God bless American troops and veterans.

267 days to go for US troops in Afghanistan. Each passing day puts them closer to home as the 31 December 2014 date for US withdrawal looms.

The Afghanistan Scandal continues, with many Americans unaware of the extent of this scandal of monumental proportions. The US military on active duty has its Tuition Assistance stopped, yet projects and school building continue on in Afghanistan. Scandalous. God bless our troops. May Tuition Assistance be restored soon. Links from around the GWOT:

3.) The US gives $2 billion to fund military pensions: of Pakistani soldiers! (Restore Marine Corps Tuition Assistance now!)
First I heard this. The US gave $2 billion to fund the pensions of soldiers: the soldiers of Pakistan!!!!
Bring back Tuition Assistance now for US Marines, its cost is reported to be $50 million a year for 30,000 Marines, or which 25,000 are enlisted.
From the story:
In the time-honoured tradition of frontier politics, the Pakistanis have demanded the payment of hefty bribes to guarantee the safe passage of Nato men and equipment — although Americans already make a $2 billion contribution into the pension pot of the Pakistani military. And even if we roll over and let ourselves be blackmailed by Pakistan, there is still no real guarantee of safe transit. Withdrawal has only just begun, and the Taleban has already made targeting Nato convoys one of its main priorities. Then there is the Pakistani corruption factor to be considered: Canadian officials estimate around a quarter of their equipment went missing while in transit through Pakistan when they withdrew in 2011.
The US military remains in Afghanistan and during this time of sequestration, have had their Tuition Assistance cut. The petition to the President has met the threshold of 100,000 signatures to get a response. I want to know if other federal agencies are still able to use Tuition Assistance? The petition can still be signed, see the link at #1. Links from around the GWOT:

US troops remain in Afghanistan and today a new pope was announced. Things change around the world, but in Afghanistan the US troops remain. US troops on active duty have had their Tuition Assistance cut, starting with the US Marines, followed by the Army, then the Air Force and Coast Guard. Links from around the GWOT:
1.) Active duty US troops face Tuition Assistance cuts. The cuts have sparked outrage among US active duty troops and lawmakers. Link:
US troops are still in Afghanistan and the Marines and Army soldiers there on active duty who are enrolled in Tuition Assistance have had their funding stopped by President Obama and his Department of Defense.
I am asking now that people sign the petition at link #1 to reinstate Tuition Assistance. US Marines and soldiers worldwide, and in the US on active duty have had their Tuition Assistance stopped.
This needs restored immediately.
I read stories about various amounts of US tax money being sent to foreign countries and this should be stopped immediately and transferred to the Tuition Assistance program for the Marines and soldiers. Sec. of State Kerry is giving Egypt $250 million and Syria two installments of $60 million each.
US AID is giving $300 million of US tax dollars to Afghan women to teach self-esteem and for women’s programs.
Another $171 million is going to Myanmar, the former Burma for computers and other items. I believe all of these programs, which I easily found stories about online, in print, and on TV news last week, should be STOPPED and the money redirected to the Marine Corps and Army for Tuition Assistance programs. The Marine Tuition Assistance, which was stopped first, costs $50 million annually, a sum that can be easily found in the money being sent overseas in the examples above. God bless our active duty troops and may their TUition Assistance be restored SOON! Sign the petition!
