U.S. troops celebrate Christmas in the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan again this year, as the drawdown there has already begun. Within two years they are supposed to be gone in 2014, just like U.S. troops are out of Iraq. God bless American troops in Afghanistan as they celebrate the Christian tradition of Christmas in a foreign land. Links from around the GWOT  and Merry Christmas! Links:

Our religious freedom remains intact in America thanks to or troops protecting it for us at home and abroad. We can attend Christian services today, Sunday, our day of worship, and peacefully spend the rest of the day with our families. Or, if we so desire, we don’t have to attend church services. It is our decision in America. We can pray only five times a day at appointed times, or we can pray without ceasing throughout the day. It’s up to us. God bless the USA and God bless America. The workweek ends for most Americans, another weekend to relax, attend church, and attend to home and family. But for American troops in Afghanistan the war continues. Our British allies are also paying the price of COIN (counterinsurgency) or nation building in Afghanistan. God bless our troops. Links from around the GWOT:

Another Thanksgiving at war for U.S. troops in Afghanistan. Please pray for them this day, for victory, and that they can secure peace in this war torn land and come home to America. God bless our troops. Links from around the GWOT:

1.) NATO troops accused of killing civilians, again Afghan President Karzai condemns them. Link:

2.) Marine Commandant Amos visits Marines in Afghanistan on Thanksgiving, refers to his trip as follows:

“At one point the 65-year-old Amos referred to his unusual daytrip as the “Bataan death march,” a reference to the gruesome forced march of American POWs in the Philippines during World War II.”

I am not sure what that’s all about as I am now reading a book about the Bataan Death March and it was nothing like this trip, it was a tale of starvation and US troops being tortured and deprived. Anyway, here is the full story link:

3.) No breaks for US troops on the front lines in Afghanistan:

4.) Chow halls in Iraq shutting down after Thanksgiving dinner, Americans going to Meals Ready to Eat (MRE’s):

Another day at war for U.S. troops. God bless them. Links from around the GWOT:

1.) Despite massive amounts of foreign aid from U.S. taxpayers, Afghanistan remains one of the most poverty stricken countries on earth. Link:

2.)  British inquest into death of one of their soldiers in Afghanistan. Another verdict of unlawful killing. Now, may the murderer be arrested and held accountable for his actions in this unlawful killing. Link:

3.) The Vietnam Plan for Afghanistan:

4.) “Last Men Out” by Bob Drury and Tom Clavin is an excellent book I am now reading about the true story of America’s heroic final hours in Vietnam. Tells a lot about the Marine Security Guards (MSG’s) stationed at the US Embassy in Saigon. Link:

British troops are dying in Afghanistan, along with Americans, as you can read about at story link #1. God bless American troops and our British allies, may this soldier RIP. An inquiry was held in the UK into his April 1 death. The British soldier was only 19 years old. It does not say whether the murderer was captured and held accountable for his actions, or if the murder case has been solved. I hope the murderer is arrested and off the streets so he does not murder other US or British troops.
