Election day in the USA and 60 days left for US troops in Afghanistan. I might be a few days off on the count. As it gets closer to the December 31, 2014 deadline for US troops to leave Afghanistan, I will adjust as needed. Meanwhile, fallout from the war in Afghanistan continues, this time in a US courtroom, as a terrorist is being brought to trial in the USA for attacks on US troops in Afghanistan. 117 days to go for US troops in Afghanistan, keep them in your thoughts and prayers as they continue with retrograde operations, closing bases and packing equipment. As Afghanistan has mineral wealth as shown at link #1, time for the US to bring her money home with our troops, to bring our money with us, as they can pay for their own military. The US is in debt and needs to use the money now paying Afghan troops, to take care of our own troops and veterans.

I just finished reading “Level Zero Heroes” about Marine actions and restricted rules in Afghanistan among other things. Please order this book, or go to the store and buy it, or download it to Kindle, etc. This is a story that needs to be told! Let’s put this book on the best seller list!

118 days to go for US troops in Afghanistan, or thereabouts. See the link #1 about all the riches Afghanistan has. Time to bring US troops home, and our money with them. The US can no longer afford to fund the Afghan military, we need to fund our own military and our American veterans.

Remember, a good read for this weekend would be the newly released book about Marines in Afghanistan and the restricted rules of engagement they endured, “LEVEL ZERO HEROES”. I just finished this book and give it my highest recommendation.

Time to have a huge investigation or tribunal after end of this war on 31 December 2014, and hold accountable those politicians and military officers responsible for the losing counterinsurgency theory that led to massive US casualties throughout the 13 or so years of war that we have been in Afghanistan since 2001.

Let’s make sure these officers, and the various losing war plans and strategies are NEVER used in war again! We have already had one Vietnam, why did we use the “Vietnam Plan for Afghanistan?”

In future wars, the US military motto should be: “VICTORY THROUGH STRENGTH.”

With 131 days to go for US troops in Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan, and until the stoppage or slowdown in daily posts on this blog, and with all the global terror going on outside of Afghanistan, I decided to make a somewhat subtle, but I think necessary, change to the title of this blog. The change appears beginning with today’s title, and unless I forget and accidentally post it as I did in the past out of habit, the change will be to “A GWOT Hotspot” from “The GWOT Hotspot”. Right now, it even seems the switch is back on to Iraq, with Commander-in-Chief, President Obama, sending troops there on the ground, and also by air with air strikes. Some days 31 December 2014 seems a long way off, but it can’t come soon enough for US troops in this still dangerous country, who face death and injury while completing retrograde operations, closing bases and packing up US equipment.

134 days left for US troops in Afghanistan, as they complete retrograde operations in preparation for all US troops to leave that country by 31 December 2014.

Remember our injured troops, and families of the fallen in your prayers.

Remember in your prayers, the family of Sgt. Rob Richards, Marine Sniper, Purple Heart recipient, who was found dead in his home in North Carolina a week ago tomorrow.

The days wind down, and 135 remain for US troops in Afghanistan.

I still keep thinking of the death of medically retired Marine sniper, Sgt. Rob Richards, found dead in his home last Wed. Keep his family in your thoughts and prayers.

291 days to go for US troops in Afghanistan. Pray for them as they complete retrograde operations, closing bases, and packing equipment until the end date for them to come home on 31 December 2014. It is a still dangerous country and they are still taking casualties. Links from around the GWOT:

1.) Afghan President Karzai says his country does not need US troops. I say good, hurry up the retrograde operations of US troops, and come home earlier than 31 December 2014. Bring US troops home first, and our money with them. When all US troops come home, quit funding Afghanistan too. The US is cutting our own military and veteran budget, so we can no longer afford to fund and equip the Afghan military anymore. Link:
