Afghanistan Today, the GWOT Hotspot (The Afghanistan Scandal?) 6-30-14-Mon. (184 days to go)

Another month winds down for US troops in Afghanistan who have 184 days left before they all leave by 31 December 2014.

Remember when President GW Bush took all kinds of grief for funding “Overseas Contingency Operations”? Now Pres. Obama is using the same term. He has already extended the Afghanistan war until 31 December 2014. Now he is even stating he wants to extend this two more years until 2016! I’ve read the US Dept. of Defense and/or the Pentagon want to extend it until 2018! What?! No way! Congress should pull the plug on this and defend any further “Overseas Contingency Operations” in Afghanistan past the already planned date to leave, 31 Dec. 2014. Americans are still being wounded and dying there, and remain at risk for injury and death until they leave 31 Dec. 2014.

185 days to go for US troops in Afghanistan as they spend another Sunday at war. Let’s pray for them, and that the US President honors his word and the last extension of US troops deployed there, which was to 31 December 2014 holds and is the day all US troops leave. There is talk that the US President wants to extend the time US troops are in Afghanistan two more years, to 2016! Congress needs to put a stop to this, and not fund these two more years. I even read the Department of Defense and or the Pentagon want to extend it two years beyond that and keep US troops there until 2018!! Unacceptable! Honor the deadline now in place: 31 December 2014.

Another summer weekend for Americans, as the Fourth of July bears down on us, where America’s independence is celebrated. But, for US troops in Afghanistan, it’s 187 days left in that country until 31 December, 2014, when all US troops leave. There is talk of President Obama extending it two more years until 2016, but I hope and pray the US Congress will put a stop to that thinking and defund any such two year extension. I read yesterday that the Department of Defense wrote a report and said US troops need to stay at least until 2018! First I heard that and it was frightening to read! Let’s stick with the predetermined deadline which is already an extension by Obama from a previous earlier deadline to leave. The US is out of money, and can no longer afford to fund the Afghan military. Time to take care of American troops, fix the VA, and take care of our military needs.

188 days to go for US troops in Afghanistan, and things are heating up. Reports have the Taliban attacking Afghan cities, as Afghan forces take the lead in fighting them. US troops are completing retrograde operations in this still dangerous country, packing equipment and closing down bases. God bless American troops as they complete the mission, which is to leave by the deadline of 31 December 2014. Let’s hope and pray that President Obama does not get his way, and the US Congress can stop him from keeping US troops in Afghanistan two more years as he wants to do. Staying until the already determined deadline of 31 December 2014 is long enough!

189 left, and they aren’t getting any easier for US troops as they complete retrograde operations, closing bases and packing equipment to leave Afghanistan by the deadline of 31 December 2014. Keep them in your prayers.

190 days to go for US troops in Afghanistan. Then, yesterday, 300 US Special Forces Green Berets will receive diplomatic immunity and leave for Iraq. Yes, Iraq.
