Afghanistan Today-the GWOT Hotspot-5-31-10-Mon.-Memorial Day

Memorial Day 2010 and still no victory for the US in Afghanistan. We need generals who have a culture of victory. We need to win the war in Afghanistan and bring our troops home. The question should be asked is if what is being done is in the interest of fast victory? God bless US troops, and may they be home soon.

1.) Female Marines go to talk to Afghan women. I don’t know the answer–will this lead to a quick victory or long term be beneficial? Link:

God bless our troops this Sunday, another Memorial Day weekend at war. For those injured, pray for healing. For those who gave the ultimate sacrifice, God bless your families, and may we honor them with victory in Afghanistan soon. Links from around the GWOT:

1.)  A must-read this Memorial Day by Diana West, on our military prisoners at Leavenworth Military Prison being locked up, while Taliban fighters are released. I have written my elected officials and suggest others do the same, and perhaps send this story. At least we should do a swap and release our prisoners if we are releasing their prisoners: “Clemency for the enemy, but not our soldiers?”

The situation in Afghanistan seems to show no progress toward victory for American troops. They seem to need new leaders who have a culture of victory. God bless our troops, may they win this war soon and come home.

1.) Gitmo detainees seem to be very dangerous:

2.) Excellent article by Diana West on American detainees at Ft. Leavenworth Military Prison; google: “Clemency for the enemy but not for our soldiers?” One link, as it is in many publications:

It is another Memorial Day weekend at war for American troops. God bless them and may they come home soon.

McClatchy News wrote a story quoting Gen. McChrystal as saying Marjah, Afghanistan is a “bleeding” ulcer. The military is now requesting the headline be changed, see the story below Link:

1.) McClatcy politely refuses to change their headline concerning a quote from Gen. McChrystal saying Marjah, Afghanistan is like a “bleeding ulcer.”  See link below:

2.) The original “bleeding ulcer” story:

3.)  U.S. releases Afghan prisoners in bid to mend relations. When will U.S. prisoners in the Leavenworth prison be released, those who are there for actions in battle? Link:

The world seems to be getting more and more dangerous with North Korea now being proven as having shot a torpedo and sunk a South Korean ship a few weeks ago, killing many of the South Korean sailors onboard the ship. In the meantime, U.S. troops continue to be maimed and killed in Afghanistan. Several Marines were severely injured in Afghanistan this week. One Marine lost three limbs: two legs and his right arm. Another Marine lost his right eye and suffered other injuries. God bless them and pray for these Marines and their families. Links below from around the GWOT:

1.)  We must never forget the 3 recon Marines killed in Afghanistan, and must make sure their murderers are captured and brought to justice. We shall never forget our heroes: Uzenski, Ingham and Lowe who paid the ultimate sacrifice on Jan. 11, 2010 in Afghanistan. Watch the video, 12 troops died this week. Link:

2.) Terror alert: Somalians may come through Mexican border to USA:

3.) Marines brave sniper fire in Marjah, Afghanistan:

4.) With Marines being maimed and killed in Marjah-see above story: NATO officers say that success is 3 months away. Link:

5.) Marine loses right eye in Afghanistan, suffers other injuries, pray for him and his familyy:

6.) Triple amputee: Marine hits IED in Afghanistan, Pray for this Marine and his family. I hope the enemy who did this is captured and brought to justice. Link:

7.) Marine returns from Afghanistan, guarded convoys:

8.) Afghans believe U.S. is backing the Taliban:

9.) Govt. in a box flops: McChrystal fumes:

There appears to be more war on the horizon: now South Korea says that it is for sure: North Korea sunk their ship and killed their sailors. The Obama administration said they will show force with military exercises with South Korea. Obama faces more charges of weakness in foreign affairs and in the wars where he is Commander-in-Chief. Various links from around the GWOT.

1.) Problems Obama has are described in this article:

6.) Good article on how our citizens and politicians don’t realize the troops are at war:
