2 days to go for US troops in Afghanistan. I consider today and tomorrow, thus the #2. But, even though it was set in stone so to speak for all US troops to be out of Afghanistan by 12/31/14, in fact, this past weekend Operation Enduring Freedom was ended a few days early. The ISAF, NATO and US combat mission and there was a ceremony ending the war in Afghanistan. After years of updating this blog nearly every day, I too will suspend daily updates with the end of US involvement in this war. I will update on occasion if US generals are he,d responsible, or US politicians, for the failed COIN (nation building) strategy which came at such high cost for US taxpayers and came at the ultimate cost for US troops who fell in Afghanistan. May God bless and continue to heal American troops still suffering from their combat injuries, line of duty injuries, traumatic brain injury and those suffering from various war related mental disorders such as depression, anxiety, and/or post traumatic stress disorder. 39 days to go, if I have the count right, for US troops in Afghanistan. One thing for sure, with the date to withdraw of 12/31/14 approaching, this will be their last Thanksgiving there, then their last Christmas there.

80 days to go in Afghanistan for US troops, while Iraq faces threats from ISIS and Afghanistan is under Taliban attack, including the seeming terrorist haven of Bati Kot.

1.) Bati Kot, Afghanistan attack (see second from last paragraph) among other fighting:

Afghanistan Today, the GWOT Hotspot (The Afghanistan Scandal?) 8-21-14-Th. (132 days to go)

132 days to go for US troops in Afghanistan as they work to complete retrograde operations before they all leave 31 December 2014.

There were stories in the news the last few days, while President Obama is on vacation, which states he supports the current date of withdrawal for US troops from Afghanistan. The 31 December 2014 date is an extension of a previous date for US troops to leave, but President Obama, as Commander-in-Chief, agreed to extend until the end of this year.

Now there is talk of President Obama wanting to extend the date once again, from 31 December 2014, until the end of 2016! The U.S. Congress needs to step in and put an end to this two year extension by defunding it!

God bless our troops as they complete retrograde operations, closing bases, and packing equipment, in this still dangerous country, as evidenced by the murder of a US general there in an insider attack earlier this month.

In the meantime, it seems the GWOT Hotspot has speed from Afghanistan to places around the world with Iraq back in play with US troops being sent back there, with the beheading of a US journalist by ISIS, continuing terrorist presence in Syria, and elsewhere around the world.

Meanwhile, some officers such as Army Major General John Nicholson, Jr. is back in the U.S. with a new wife, as the story at link #1 describes his digs.

185 days to go for US troops in Afghanistan as they spend another Sunday at war. Let’s pray for them, and that the US President honors his word and the last extension of US troops deployed there, which was to 31 December 2014 holds and is the day all US troops leave. There is talk that the US President wants to extend the time US troops are in Afghanistan two more years, to 2016! Congress needs to put a stop to this, and not fund these two more years. I even read the Department of Defense and or the Pentagon want to extend it two years beyond that and keep US troops there until 2018!! Unacceptable! Honor the deadline now in place: 31 December 2014.

210 days to go for US troops in Afghanistan and unfortunately they are still dying in combat. A Special Forces soldier has died in Nangarhar, of wounds suffered with small arms fire in Jalalabad. RIP soldier.

President Obama gives another college speech, this time at the US Military Academy at West Point today, and reports are that he will extend the Afghanistan War two more years. It is my hope he stands by the initial exit date he gave years ago, of 31 December 2014.

Meanwhile, Bati Kot, Afghanistan has not been pacified, and remains a terrorist haven near the Torkm Gate on the Pakistan border. Why? MARSOC Marines were there and thrown out in error after an ‘Incident at Bati Kot’ when they were attacked 4 March 2007. All Marines were exonerated at a 2008 Marine Court of Inquiry. Yet, Bati Kot remains a terrorist haven, and those US Army officers who threw out the first ever deployed Special Operations Marines have yet to be held accountable, or demoted for Bati Kot remaining in terrorist hands.
