132 days to go for US troops in Afghanistan as they work to complete retrograde operations before they all leave 31 December 2014.
There were stories in the news the last few days, while President Obama is on vacation, which states he supports the current date of withdrawal for US troops from Afghanistan. The 31 December 2014 date is an extension of a previous date for US troops to leave, but President Obama, as Commander-in-Chief, agreed to extend until the end of this year.
Now there is talk of President Obama wanting to extend the date once again, from 31 December 2014, until the end of 2016! The U.S. Congress needs to step in and put an end to this two year extension by defunding it!
God bless our troops as they complete retrograde operations, closing bases, and packing equipment, in this still dangerous country, as evidenced by the murder of a US general there in an insider attack earlier this month.
In the meantime, it seems the GWOT Hotspot has speed from Afghanistan to places around the world with Iraq back in play with US troops being sent back there, with the beheading of a US journalist by ISIS, continuing terrorist presence in Syria, and elsewhere around the world.
Meanwhile, some officers such as Army Major General John Nicholson, Jr. is back in the U.S. with a new wife, as the story at link #1 describes his digs.

Sunday in America and another day at war for US troops remaining in Afghanistan. God bless America’s enlisted troops, and may they have new leadership which will consider them paramount, and have a culture of victory to instill in the troops they lead. The heartbreak from a lack of winning leadership in the US military general officers, reverberates as each limb is lost, and each life ebbs out of our innocent American troops. This music video expresses the heartbreak of losing a son to war. God bless our troops. Keep them and their families in your thoughts and prayers. Links from around the GWOT:

More news this morning on FOX and Friends about the former Seal sniper’s death on the shooting range, allegedly at the hands of a former Marine suffering from PTSD. Also killed was the sniper’s friend. Sad situation. Pray for American troops and veterans.
Another work week begins and all the while, US troops remain at war in Afghanistan for yet another week. God bless American troops who are deployed. Links from around the GWOT:
1.) Author of best seller, “American Sniper”, and former Navy SEAL, Chris Kyle was murdered in Texas. God bless his family at this time of loss. I don’t understand the story as details are still coming in, but initial reports are that the American sniper with the most kills, Kyle, who was highly decorated in his military career, took a former Marine with PTSD onto a gun range with loaded weapons for shooting practice to help him deal with his PTSD? That doesn’t sound right, as I don’t think a highly trained former SEAL like this would give a Marine dealing with PTSD a loaded weapon. This is about all I know, the details will be coming out in the days ahead. I hope and pray that US troops suffering from PTSD will get the treatment they need and deserve through the VA and Department of Defense for those still on active duty, and there are professionals to deal with their PTSD and get them treatment. The year 2012 winds down, and US troops are still in Afghanistan. God bless them.

Another Thursday in Afghanistan, this time Secretary of Defense Leon Panetta made a surprise unannounced trip to that country to talk with President Hamid Karzai to discuss troop levels.
It is my hope new American military leadership will come in and lead our troops to a win in this war so they can come home in victory before Dec. 31, 2014.
Meanwhile, the GWOT rages, see this story at link #1 about the injured Americans in the Benghazi attack.
In another outrage, a Marine who fell in Fallujah in 2004 when falling on a grenade was again denied the Medal of Honor, this time by Leon Panetta.
This is an outrage. Americans should contact their elected officials and Secretary of Defense Panetta. This Marine fell on a grenade and was killed, and he should be awarded the Medal of Honor I believe.
The Marine Corps itself nominated him for the Medal of Honor. Rafael Peralta should have the Medal of Honor awarded.
Congressman Duncan Hunter was on FOX at 12:15pm in a long segment. He said President Bush and his Secretary of Defenses did not award one Medal of Honor to a living recipient.
I personally think President Obama should override this. Contact the Commander-in-Chief.
Award this Medal of Honor! It wasn’t until President Obama came into office that a Medal of Honor was awarded to a living recipient, now several have been awarded under Obama.
The Navy and the Marine Corps recommended the Medal of Honor. Marines on the scene gave testament to the valor of Peralta who gave his life for our country.

2.) Fallen Marine Peralta denied Medal of Honor again, this time by Sec. of Defense Panetta. As Commander-in-Chief, President Obama should override this and award the posthumous Medal of Honor to Peralta’s family.
