13 days to go as US troops end their involvement in Afghanistan, and fallout from the many years there continues. In the news today are reports and questions about the possible desertion of US Army soldier Bowe Bergdahl and the delay in releasing the investigative report results. Links from around the GWOT:

1.). When will the results from the Bowe Berghdal investigation be released?

18 days to go for the US Operation Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan, and as I wind down this blog’s daily updates, it gives me time to pause and reflect on the past years of US combat involvement, and before that actions going back even to the British wars in Afghanistan in the 1800’s, and the beheading of British officers in 1842, Conolly and Stoddart.

Links from around the GWOT:

22 days to go for US troops in Afghanistan. On their way out, a Senate report on the CIA comes out about treatment of enemy combatants, and the new Afghan president decries alleged abuses. Don’t know if Afghanistan has prepared a report about Afghan abuses against American troops in That country, such as the illegal use of land mines which killed and maimed US troops, and human rights violations against their own people, such as girls having acid thrown on their face, etc. links from around the GWOT:

1.) US CIA criticized in US Senate report:

25 days to go for US troops in Afghanistan, or least that was the plan. Now plans are afoot with President Obama signing a secret order extending their stay, and outgoing Defense Secretary Hagel visiting Afghanistan a few days ago and upping the number of troops going to stay there past 12/31/14. Out of a sense of “tribute” I am holding faith to the original date and will stop daily posting 12/31/14. After that date, when US troops were supposed to leave, I might post occasionally with specific breaking news or big news stories concerning US troops in Afghanistan. Links from around the GWOT:

1.) Another day, another attack on a US base. This is Press TV I know, but it provides a different perspective on reporting:
