US troops continue on in Afghanistan while the Presidential inauguration went on Monday night, with balls, dancing, eating and drinking, all while they serve voluntarily to protect our country. God bless them.

Watching a DVD from Netflix called “CIA”, disk one and two. I am on disk 2 now, which starts out about the Phoenix program in the Vietnam War. So, thought I would read about it online. I don’t know if there are parallels to today’s war in Afghanistan. I have heard multiple times that what is going on now in Afghanistan is the “Vietnam Plan For Afghanistan” though.

1.) LInk to information about the Phoenix program noted above, from the US war in Vietnam. Link:

2. More on Phoenix Operation, “A Retrospective on Counterrorism”:

3.) General Allen cleared of wrong doing in e-mail scandal. I have a question: doesn’t a general in a war zone need to be leading troops and not e mailing a socialite woman in Florida? Link:

Another day at war for U.S. troops. God bless them. Links from around the GWOT:

1.) Despite massive amounts of foreign aid from U.S. taxpayers, Afghanistan remains one of the most poverty stricken countries on earth. Link:

2.)  British inquest into death of one of their soldiers in Afghanistan. Another verdict of unlawful killing. Now, may the murderer be arrested and held accountable for his actions in this unlawful killing. Link:

3.) The Vietnam Plan for Afghanistan:

4.) “Last Men Out” by Bob Drury and Tom Clavin is an excellent book I am now reading about the true story of America’s heroic final hours in Vietnam. Tells a lot about the Marine Security Guards (MSG’s) stationed at the US Embassy in Saigon. Link:

While U.S. troops are still in Afghanistan, another war front opens in Africa. Well, now it is said that 100 combat military advisors are being sent to Uganda by President Obama. Of course, the advisor role reminds me of something from my childhood: troops being sent to Vietnam as advisors. Anyway, the story is below you can read about it for yourself and draw your own conclusions. Links from around the GWOT:

1.) President Obama orders troops to Uganda:

2.) Navy SEALS to go green, hope the sun is shining when they need it:

The Afghanistan Scandal continues. God bless our troops there in the middle, as their blood spills out for an Afghanistan Constitution which would execute a man for converting from Islam. Why are our troops there to support such injustice? See story about this execution scheduled to carried out by the Karzai government we support in three days.

Today’s fill in for Rush Limbaugh, Mark Steryn, discussed the situation today about this Afghan Christian facing execution. Contact your elected officials if you believe this is unfair. Link:

1.) Christian in Afghanistan scheduled to be executed in 3 days:

2.) Vets with PTSD shortchanged? Read this article, it appears their opinion is an anti-war, doctor has been appointed at the VA to deal with PTSD:

3.) MEU Commander fired in wake of theft arrest. I wonder if he will be thrown out of the Marine Corps, or if he still receives pay at his current rate? Link:

4.) Religious minority in Indonesia attacked:

5.) Taliban shadow government in Eastern Afghanistan:

Another month of war for U.S. troops fighting to secure victory in Afghanistan. God bless them and may they secure a win soon so they can come home to victory parades.

It seems the quest for victory in Afghanistan is being slowed down, in my opinion, by a failure to have leaders who have a culture of victory, a culture of victory they instill in the troops they lead. One thing we don’t need is what it appears we are following, and that is what I call, “The Vietnam Plan for Afghanistan”.

In the story at #1 former Nixon Administration official Henry Kissinger explains how the Vietnam war was lost. (I know we won every battle, and there were no American combat troops there when it fell.)

1.) This story should be read carefully so we don’t make the same mistakes in our current wars. Link:

2.) NATO and U.S. supply trucks and supplies including petrol burned in Pakistan:

The war in Afghanistan goes on, and while the US draws down in Iraq, more bombings and deaths of Iraqis. So far, no living soldier or Marine has earned a Medal of Honor. One of our American Medal of Honor heroes from Vietnam just died, may he RIP, his story at link #1.

1.) So far all the Medal of Honor recipients in the Global War on Terrorism have been awarded posthumously. This soldier earned his Medal of Honor in Vietnam battle, and just died recently. Link:

2.) No graceful exit from war in Afghanistan:

3.) Afghan president plans to ban private security guards. Who will guard U.S.State Department and Embassy staff in addition to the Marine Security Guards?
