Afghanistan Today, the GWOT Hotspot (The Afghanistan Scandal?) 12-31-13-New Year’s Eve

The last day of December 2013, and another year in the book for US troops in Afghanistan. Now throughout 2014, US troops are engaging in retrograde operations, closing down US bases and packing up what equipment they can. Some pieces of equipment, even MRAPS I have read, are being shredded and sold for scrap. Let’s hope and pray that the US troops can get everything done BEFORE 31 December 2014 and can come home early. US troops need to come home now, and bring our money with them. Links from around the GWOT:

1.) The top six ways U.S. taxpayer money is being wasted in Afghanistan. With the US retirees having had their COLA cut, I say that the US needs to quit funding and equipping the Afghan army and fund our own military and our retirees, including medically retired US vets. Link:

The year winds down as US troops in Afghanistan continue retrograde operations in Afghanistan, packing up and closing down bases before the 31 December 2014 deadline for US troops to be gone from that country. Links from around the GWOT:

1.) As the Afghanistan retrograde missions continue, the US Army begins “Pacific Pathways” and a “fight” or turf battle with the Marines over the Pacific area of operations. The story also states that COIN (nation-building, counterinsurgency) is no longer the “flavor of the month” at the Pentagon and has fallen out of favor. About time for that to happen, after thousands of Americans have died in Iraq and Afghanistan under COIN, and tens of thousands have been injured. Link:

Four American military members were released by Libya after being held a few days ago. Prayers answered. Pray for America’s remaining troops in Afghanistan as they complete retrograde operations in a still hostile combat zone. Links from around the GWOT:

God bless America’s troops continuing retrograde operations in Afghanistan to be out of there by 31 December 2014. In the meantime, more war fronts open. Read this story, and within it see the US is going to train thousands of Libyan men in Bulgaria to go back to Libya to fight. How can this be? The US is out of money and cutting veteran retirement benefits, and the benefits of medically retired vets! Links from around the GWOT:

While American troops continue retrograde operations in Afghanistan, new war fronts open up, this time in South Sudan. Read link #1 for details. Links from around the GWOT:

1.)  US troops going to the South Sudan, this story cites Susan Rice’s involvement:

Another Christmas in Afghanistan, pray for American troops in this war zone. Retrograde operations continue, but it is a still dangerous war zone. The US Embassy was attacked this Christmas Day. Merry Christmas to U.S. troops around the world, serving at U.S. Embassies worldwide. Links from around the GWOT:

3.) US Marine Commandant James Amos, the first non-infantry Commandant, and his wife Bonnie meet with Marines engaging in retrograde operations in Afghanistan, as they pack up to prepare for the US to leave that country by 31 Dec. 2014. (Marine Medal of Honor recipient Dakota Meyers was with the Commandant on this trip to Afghanistan). Link:
