The new year starts off with lots of change in the military. Yesterday President Obama gave a short speech about downsizing the military, followed by a press conference with Defense Secretary Leon Panetta and Joint Chiefs of Staff Chairman, Army General Martin Dempsey. God bless our troops and may they return home in victory from Afghanistan. Links from around the GWOT:

It’s another week at war for U.S. troops. In addition to duty in Afghanistan, Marines from Okinawa, Japan went to the earthquake damaged areas and helped with humanitarian relief. Links from around the GWOT:

While U.S. troops toil in Afghanistan, one can only hope they can be pulled out, replaced with Afghan troops, and the Americans sent to Japan to help them recover from their earthquake and tsunami. Links from around the GWOT:

The Afghanistan war drags on another day. God bless our troops serving there, especially our injured, they need our prayers too. The U.S. still has troops in Japan, many troops there have served in Iraq or Afghanistan, or are training to go there. Story at #1 about Okinawa, Japan.
