Afghanistan Today, a GWOT Hotspot (the Afghanistan Scandal) 12/30/14 Tue. (2 days to go)

2 days to go for US troops in Afghanistan. I consider today and tomorrow, thus the #2. But, even though it was set in stone so to speak for all US troops to be out of Afghanistan by 12/31/14, in fact, this past weekend Operation Enduring Freedom was ended a few days early. The ISAF, NATO and US combat mission and there was a ceremony ending the war in Afghanistan. After years of updating this blog nearly every day, I too will suspend daily updates with the end of US involvement in this war. I will update on occasion if US generals are he,d responsible, or US politicians, for the failed COIN (nation building) strategy which came at such high cost for US taxpayers and came at the ultimate cost for US troops who fell in Afghanistan. May God bless and continue to heal American troops still suffering from their combat injuries, line of duty injuries, traumatic brain injury and those suffering from various war related mental disorders such as depression, anxiety, and/or post traumatic stress disorder. 118 days to go for US troops in Afghanistan, or thereabouts. See the link #1 about all the riches Afghanistan has. Time to bring US troops home, and our money with them. The US can no longer afford to fund the Afghan military, we need to fund our own military and our American veterans.

Remember, a good read for this weekend would be the newly released book about Marines in Afghanistan and the restricted rules of engagement they endured, “LEVEL ZERO HEROES”. I just finished this book and give it my highest recommendation.

Time to have a huge investigation or tribunal after end of this war on 31 December 2014, and hold accountable those politicians and military officers responsible for the losing counterinsurgency theory that led to massive US casualties throughout the 13 or so years of war that we have been in Afghanistan since 2001.

Let’s make sure these officers, and the various losing war plans and strategies are NEVER used in war again! We have already had one Vietnam, why did we use the “Vietnam Plan for Afghanistan?”

In future wars, the US military motto should be: “VICTORY THROUGH STRENGTH.”

134 days left for US troops in Afghanistan, as they complete retrograde operations in preparation for all US troops to leave that country by 31 December 2014.

Remember our injured troops, and families of the fallen in your prayers.

Remember in your prayers, the family of Sgt. Rob Richards, Marine Sniper, Purple Heart recipient, who was found dead in his home in North Carolina a week ago tomorrow.

The days wind down, and 135 remain for US troops in Afghanistan.

I still keep thinking of the death of medically retired Marine sniper, Sgt. Rob Richards, found dead in his home last Wed. Keep his family in your thoughts and prayers.

196 days to go for US troops in Afghanistan. Let’s hope (and pray) the president’s call for two more years of US troops in Afghanistan after the deadline to withdrawal of Dec. 31, 2014 passes does not come to reality, and the US Congress can stop it, and/or defund it. God bless American troops. Retrograde operations continue as US troops pack up and close bases to meet the 12-31-14 deadline.

Links from around the GWOT:

1.) When US troops leave military service, this story reports some have problems getting hired in the civilian workforce as employers fear they have suffered emotionally in the war zone and have battle fatigue or combat stress, otherwise known as Post Traumatic Stress (PTS). There is a move afoot, such as by a recent recipient of the Medal of Honor, to drop the “D” so there is not a stigma of “disorder” added to it, so PTSD is becoming PTS. Link:

198 days to go for US troops in Afghanistan. I can only hope the US Congress stops Pres. Obama from keeping them there 2 more years past the Dec. 31, 2014 deadline to leave, perhaps by defunding this extra two years he wants to keep US troops there.
