277 days to go for US troops in Afghanistan. December 31, 2014 can’t come soon enough.

Links from around the GWOT:

1.) The first MARSOC Marine Commander, Major Fred Galvin (ret.) will pen the forward to the upcoming book, “Level Zero Heroes.” Sounds like an excellent book, I wish them great success! (Note the revision / correction at the bottom of the link now. Also read the comments for more details.) Link:

279 days to go for US troops in Afghanistan. It is a still dangerous retrograde mission going on, with US troops still taking casualties, so keep them in your prayers. Links from around the GWOT:

280 days to go for US troops in retrograde operations in Afghanistan, packing equipment and closing US bases. It is still a dangerous place for American troops to be, so keep them in your prayers.

In the meantime, within about two weeks, the Afghans have another election for president, with mostly Afghan forces running the show, protecting polling places, etc. from what I understand.

281 days to go for American troops in Afghanistan as they complete their retrograde mission of packing up US equipment and closing US bases. It is a still dangerous place so keep them in your thoughts and prayers. Links from around the GWOT:

1.)  As the Afghan election nears in mere weeks, election officials and monitors are under attack. It seems this would be a good time to bring in US generals and high ranking military officers who supported COIN (winning hearts & minds, nation building) to monitor the elections. They can see their COIN theories through. Link:
