2 days to go for US troops in Afghanistan. I consider today and tomorrow, thus the #2. But, even though it was set in stone so to speak for all US troops to be out of Afghanistan by 12/31/14, in fact, this past weekend Operation Enduring Freedom was ended a few days early. The ISAF, NATO and US combat mission and there was a ceremony ending the war in Afghanistan. After years of updating this blog nearly every day, I too will suspend daily updates with the end of US involvement in this war. I will update on occasion if US generals are he,d responsible, or US politicians, for the failed COIN (nation building) strategy which came at such high cost for US taxpayers and came at the ultimate cost for US troops who fell in Afghanistan. May God bless and continue to heal American troops still suffering from their combat injuries, line of duty injuries, traumatic brain injury and those suffering from various war related mental disorders such as depression, anxiety, and/or post traumatic stress disorder. Afghanistan Today, a GWOT Hotspot (The Afghanistan Scandal?) 12/7/14-Pearl Harbor Day-Sun. (25 days to go)
25 days to go for US troops in Afghanistan, or least that was the plan. Now plans are afoot with President Obama signing a secret order extending their stay, and outgoing Defense Secretary Hagel visiting Afghanistan a few days ago and upping the number of troops going to stay there past 12/31/14. Out of a sense of “tribute” I am holding faith to the original date and will stop daily posting 12/31/14. After that date, when US troops were supposed to leave, I might post occasionally with specific breaking news or big news stories concerning US troops in Afghanistan. Links from around the GWOT:
1.) Another day, another attack on a US base. This is Press TV I know, but it provides a different perspective on reporting:
Some count corrections are in order. Today, December 1, 2014 marks the last month US troops are scheduled to be in Afghanistan. All Marines, with the exception of those guarding the US Embassy have left and turned over their mega base, Camp Leatherneck to the Afghans. The British have left nearby Camp Bastion and turned it over to the Afghans. In 31 days, counting today, all US troops are to have left per the drawdown plan determined several years ago. Then, a little over a week ago, while the Ferguson riots were going on, and Sec. of Defense Hagel resigned, President Obama signed a secret order to extend the US military mission there. We will see if the new Congress has a say and funds this extension. With US troops in retrograde mode for months on end, most outposts have closed, and been dismantled and/or turned over to the Afghans, and evenlarger Marine bases like Camp Leatherneck and Camp Swyer, etc.

1.) More fallout and studies on US military actions in Afghanistan. There is a link within the story to download the entire study, and I did so at no cost, through Kindle and other readers are available. The report is a study on Stryker vehicles in Afghanistan published through Ft. Leavenworth. Link:

34 days to go for US troops in Afghanistan if I have my count right.
Attacks are ongoing in Afghanistan: see link #1 for details.
1.) This story states US troops are leaving 12/31/14, I guess they haven’t gotten the memo that President Obama, while focus was on the Ferguson riots, signed an order to extend the mission of US troops there. We will see if Congress funds the extension. This story also explains the attacks in Afghanistan lately, and the murders of a South African family. Link:
36 days to go for US troops in Afghanistan. See the story at link #1, the headline pretty much tells it all: so long, good luck. Links from around the GWOT:
