Afghanistan Today, the GWOT Hotspot (The Afghanistan Scandal?) 12-20-13-Fri.

The days tick down to Christmas, another holiday season in Afghanistan for US troops engaging in retrograde operations, packing up and closing down bases for the 31 December 2014 withdraw of all US troops. I wish it was 31 December 2013. Thoughts and prayers need to go out to the remaining US troops in Afghanistan in this draw down to 31 December 2014, as it is a still dangerous war zone. The names were just released of six Americans killed in a Black Hawk helicopter crash, with five of them coming from Ft. Riley, Kansas and one from Germany. Thoughts and prayers to the families of the fallen. Links from around the GWOT:

1.) ┬áIn another scandalous travesty, a good Marine officer is dismissed from the Marine Corps for trying to warn higher ups of a security breach on base. Read the story and comments for complete details of Maj. Jason Brezler’s Board of Inquiry. At least he was honorably discharged and can go to another service branch and serve enough time to retire, another branch which will respect and honor his honorable service. I love the Marine Corps, but they need a make-over, the Marines are being subjected to bad leadership and bad decisions from the top down. As more and more good Marines are forced to leave, it leaves more and more bad leadership to run the organization. Pray for the future of the Marine Corps, and new, good leadership to pull it out of this nosedive. A fine Marine was separated at the Board of Inquiry yesterday, a loss to our entire nation. Link:
