Four years have passed since Operation Dancing Goat II in Ganjgal, Afghanistan where three American Marines and a Navy Corpsman died in an ambush after being denied back up or air support. One Medal of Honor was awarded to Marine Sgt. Dakota Meyer for his actions that day. It was announced Monday of this week that a second Medal of Honor will be awarded, this time to former Army Captain Will Swenson. Swenson’s paperwork was “lost” on 2 or 3 occasions, but now has been found. The ceremony will be October 15, 2013. The story at link #1 describes the Battlescape that day back on 8 Sept. 2009 when the ambush occurred and Swenson’s heroic actions took place. Links from around the GWOT:
