Afghanistan Today-The GWOT Hot Spot-9/1/09-Tue.

Another month at war. Last month was the most deadly for American troops. Since we don’t get a body count of enemy killed by American troops, I sure hope they had at least 10 times the number of their troops killed.

Various stories from around the Global War on Terror, the GWOT:

1.) Sec. Gates comment on Gen. McChrystal’s report released Monday. I thought it interesting that Gates comments that Pres. Obama sent 21,000 U.S. troops into a war zone without the proper equipment, according to Gates, and 80% of U.S. Marine deaths were from IED’s it says. Gates states the armored vehicles for the terrain were not there for the Marines, and are jsut arriving. He also states the drones were not there to shoot and kill the enemy laying bombs and will be on their way. I thought it odd that the troops were sent without the proper equipment Gates said, and 80% of Marine deaths are from IED’s. Read it in the story at the link below:

2.) Pres. Obama meets briefly with family of fallen Marine hero who had been sent to Afghanistan by Obama for the surge:

3.) Prime Minister Brown unpopular in Helmand, Afghanistan where his British troops face an emboldened and deadly Taliban. I don’t know, but I hope their NATO ties don’t restrict their rules of engagement so much that it causes them to be killed rather than the enemy. Link:

4.) British Prime Minister Gordon Brown lanced by corporal:

5.) Citizens are asking, as they should, about Gen. McChrystal’s new VIETNAM PLAN FOR AFGHANISTAN as it should be referred to:

6.) Groundwork is laid for troop esclation in Afghanistan:
