1.) Marines surge into Helmand Province, Afghanistan.  Pakistan stated in other articles they did not like the Marines “clearing” areas or the Taliban instead of killing them. The “clearing” operation just has them escaping into Pakistan. This story states that the Marines are “clearing” the areas. With Afghan civilians being paramount according to Adm. Mullen, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, instead of U.S. troops he leads, I wonder how the civilians like the not so civil name of “Thrust of the Sword”? The name does not sound friendly to me, so how are the Afghans taking it?  The headline is correct, the Marines in Afghanistan are heroes. Link:
