Afghanistan Today-The GWOT Hot Spot-Sat. 7-18-09
While our Marines on the ground in Afghanistan who were on a forced march, in 110 degree F + heat, are short of supplies according to the Washington Post, our generals, in a United States Central Command news release, are spending money on building a big headquarters building with dining facilities, and Gen. Petraeus turned the shovel at the groundbreaking. I think that the US Central Command, Command College, and Quantico should be moved forward. They won’t need the new building, they can learn about and monitor war, by being in a war. They can put a sign on the Command College and Quantico, and put a sign on the old Central Command building: CLOSED-out to war. Then all addresses would be Command College-Forward, Quantico-Forward, and US Central Command-Forward. If a troop surge is going on, they can help fight too by going to a forward location until the war is won in Afghanistan. If the war is not won, no new building. In addition, the officers out on the front lines from these organizations, and other officers, and even NCO’s and other enlisted men and women should covet the new title I believe they should have: FIELD GENERAL, FIELD MAJOR, FIELD CAPTAIN, etc. and among the NCO’s: Field Corporal, etc. Various links from around the GWOT (Global War on Terror):
1.) U.S. Marines are short of supplies in the desert of Afghanistan’s Helmand Province, while generals, who should be operating from US Central Command-Forward and be in the field to fight and win the war in Afghanistan, are building a new headquarters. They should have a new address: US Central Command-Forward and set up tents at Camp Leatherneck for them. The best place for them to be to win the war is to be in Afghanistan. All golf tee times should be scheduled in the forward location: Afghanistan. Florida tee times should be cancelled. Link:
2.) While generals build a headquarters, Marines in the field lack basic supplies. Link:
3.) Contracts, money and Wall Street: huge sums of money from US taxpayers:

4.) British fighting on the ground in Afghanistan: fighting ghosts. A very good read:
5.) Afghans claim civilians killed in airstrike; no word as to why civilians were hanging around with the enemy:

6.) U.S. Joint Chief of Staff head, Adm. Mike Mullen says that U.S. troops are no longer paramount in the war in Afghanistan. I am doing to send this to my representative and senators. He also said, “One is too many,” in regards to his comments about civilian deaths. Link:
