`Afghanistan Today, the GWOT Hot Spot: Wed. July 1, 2009
American combat troops have left Iraqi cities, with over 4,000 dead and 30,000 wounded in combat. I don’t know what the figures are for enemy dead and injured. Now, a surge of troops is underway in Afghanistan and on orders of the Commander in Chief they are to destroy, disrupt and dismantle the enemy there. I am not sure why the new commander, Gen. McChrystal is not following orders, but giving aid and comfort to the enemy? That smacks of treason if you ask me. Unless, the Commander in Chief has changed his orders he gave the new general at the outset, and did not tell the American public. I am still thinking they are operating on the orders to defeat, dismantle and disrupt the enemy that Pres. Obama gave. It is all so confusing. In story after story last week Gen. McChrystal said he was going to sacrifice American and allied troops and let the enemy get away. Now, if that is not the definition of aiding and comforting the enemy I don’t know what is. In addition he was ordering Marines and soldiers to retreat, and limiting their ability to shoot back or call in air strikes when under fire. If somebody would explain to me how that’s not treason, I would be willing to listen. I wonder if our allies, who have been slow to get on board, would be pleased to know their soldiers are being sacrificed by Gen. McChrystal? I am leading again with the excellent letter from the Las Vegas Sun, “Afghanistan policy sacrifices U.S. troops,” as it needs to be read, and every Congressman and Senator should read it and answer why we are sacrificing U.S. troops in Afghanistan? 1.) Every politician sending our troops to war and voting on generals such as Gen. McChrystal should read this story, as well as military families and all of America:

2.) Afghanistan policy will result in more US deaths, where is the concern for US troops and their culture and that of their families? Link:

5.) “KILLING THE ENEMY IS SECONDARY”: This is the philosophy of the Afghanistan surge. This WILL NOT WORK! Have you ever heard of a war where killing the enemy is SECONDARY? The USA cannot win a war with this philosophy. We should leave Afghanitan, take our money with us, and reserve a bomb for them if they start building terrorist camps again. US troops CANNOT be sacrificed! See story #1. Americans must STOP this war before more troops are sacrificed! Link:
At the briefing for Jones, Nicholson pointed to the mission statement, which said that “killing the enemy is secondary.” His campaign plan states, “Protect the populace by, with and through the ANSF,” the Afghanistan National Security Forces, which makes the absence of the additional Afghans particularly galling to Nicholson.
