Afghanistan Today-10-24-08-Fri.
I just read the news that two of our country’s finest, our brave Marines were murdered in Afghanistan. May God bless their families as they go through this difficult time. May they find the murderers of these Marines and bring them to justice. Rest in peace Marines. Thanks to all our Marines out there on the front lines in Iraq and Afghanistan, may your country support you on your way to victory. Pray for the families and their fellow Marines left behind. The war on terror in Afghanistan continues on with the Marines marching toward the sound of the guns. Both presidential candidates want to send more troops to Afghanistan. They should both take time in their campaigns to offer words of gratitude to these two Marines who gave their life fighting terrorists in Afghanistan. The Marines deserve a leader and generals who will give them rules of engagement which will allow them to fight and win the war. God bless you, all the 2/7 Marines out there for us, on the front lines fighting them there so they don’t come here and attack us like on 9/11/01. Other reports said Lcpl Sim volunteered to go to Afghanistan as a combat replacement, he went toward the sound of the guns when he didn’t even have to. Such courage and bravery. Our current Commander in Chief and candidates who both want more troops in Afghanistan should pay tribute to this Marine who volunteered to go fight the terrorists, along with the other Marine who was killed. Notification of deaths as I read about them in NY Daily News:

Killed in Action
October 24, 2008
The U.S. military announced the death of two Marines today:
Cpl. Adrian Robles, 21, of Scottsbluff, Neb., died Oct. 22 while supporting combat operations in Helmand province, Afghanistan. He was assigned to 2nd Battalion, 7th Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division, I Marine Expeditionary Force, Twentynine Palms, Calif.
Lance Cpl. San Sim, 23, of Santa Ana, Calif., died Oct. 22 while supporting combat operations in Helmand province, Afghanistan. He was assigned to 1st Battalion, 7th Marines, 1st Marine Division, I Marine Expeditionary Force, Twentynine Palms, Calif.
There is a lot of news coming out of Afghanistan today, along with news from the Pakistan side of the border. When looking up some news, I came across this link to the first Marine Court of Inquiry in over 50 years. I will spoil the outcome, the Marines did not face criminal charges and acted appropriately in a complex ambush. I will list this older link first. It is too bad we did not leave them there in Afghanistan in 2007 to complete the mission they trained for. Now more troops are ‘urgently’ needed in 2008. Should never have thrown the Marines out of a war, that is the first time I can find this has happened in US history. Marines are trained to go toward the sound of the guns! If you read this story though, it will give you a clue as to why we are in the situation we are today in Afghanistan: the Marines were ready, willing, and able to fight. The poiticians and generals would not let them.
